Aged Lady is Buried
Mrs. Lana Fouts [Lana Albert] Passed Away Friday [May 9, 1941] Morning Following Brief Illness
Funeral services for Mrs. Lana Fouts were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church with the Rev. F.W. Ortmeyer officiating. Burial was in the Armstrong cemetery beside the body of her husband.

Mrs. Fouts passed away at her home on south Fifteenth Street after an illness of only a week. She suffered a stroke from which she never recovered. She was 77 years of age at the time of her death. In spite of her advanced years Mrs. Fouts enjoyed her various activities which included neighborhood and church affairs. She united with the Methodist church while a young girl and has been active in all the affairs of that body. She was a good neighbor and a kindly friend and will be greatly missed by her family, relatives and numerous associates.

Mrs. Fouts was born in Meadsville, Pa., Feb. 22, 1864. She came to Iowa when a young lady and was married in 1880 to P.A. Fouts at Center Point. Following their marriage they moved to a farm near Armstrong where they resided four years moving to Minnesota from there. Four years later they returned to Estherville where they have since made their home. Mr. Fouts passed away in 1917 [1918].

Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Fouts, three of them having preceded their mother in death. Surviving are two daughters, Miss Emma Fouts, and Mrs. Clarence Wilder, both of Estherville, and two sons, Ross Fouts, of Estherville, and Arthur Fouts of Hammond, Ind. Twelve grandchildren also survive besides a host of other relatives and friends. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, May 13, 1941)
