Armstrong Woman Dies
Funeral services for Mrs. Hansine [Hanson] Fjelsrud of Armstrong, 83, who died yesterday at 8:30 pm. in the Holy Family Hospital will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the Nazareth Lutheran Church at Armstrong. Death was attributed to complications of her advanced age. She was taken to Holy Family Hospital in October.

Before her illness she kept house for her son, Helmer, on a farm six and one-half miles northeast of Armstrong.

Mrs. Fjelsrud was born Feb. 12, 1880 [per cemetery records, 1881], in Gjovick, Norway, and received her education in the Norway schools. She came to the U.S. in 1914. On March 29, 1919, she was wed to John Fjelsrud in Estherville.

They engaged in farming in the Dolliver and Armstrong area for approximately 50 years. Mrs. Fjelsrud was a long-time member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church of Armstrong.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, who died April 5, 1957. Surviving her is a son, Helmer of rural Armstrong.

Burial is to be in Armstrong Grove cemetery. Friends may call at the Slaba Funeral Home from Thursday noon until time of services Friday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 5, 1964)

The Torkel Aures attended the funeral of Mrs. Hansina Fjelsrud Friday in Armstrong. Mrs. Fjelsrud has been cared for in a nursing home for some time. She is survived by one son. (Kossuth County Advance, Algona, IA, February 13, 1964)

Mr. and Mrs. Torkel Aure attended the funeral of Mrs. John Fjelsrud in Armstrong on Friday. Mrs. Fjelsrud was a cousin of Mr. Aure’s father and a sister to the late Mrs. Marie Haug of Bode. (Humboldt Independent, Humboldt, IA, February 15, 1964)
