Mrs. Grace Slessor Dies Suddenly at Mother’s Home in Armstrong
Mrs. Grace R. Slessor, eldest daughter of the late Hon. B.F. Robinson, passed away at Armstrong, where she had been living with her mother, early Tuesday morning. The illness preceding her death was but a brief one and came as a great shock to her family and many friends.

Grace [Greenwood] Robinson was born at Conrad, Iowa, July 22, 1871, and was married in 1894 to Dr. J.A. Finlaysen [Finlayson], a prominent citizen of Armstrong, who died in 1905. She was married some years later to A.E. Slessor, and M.E. pastor at Armstrong, who died about one and a half years later. She was an active worker in the church, D.A.R., White Shrine and Eastern Star at Cedar Rapids where she had been making her home for the past few years.

She is survived by her mother, Mrs. B.F. Robinson; two sisters, Clara Robinson of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Fred Ruef of Maple Hill, and one brother, F.S. Robinson of Armstrong. Burial will be made at Armstrong Thursday. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, August 4, 1926 / Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, August 4 1926)

Former Resident Ends Life With Drink of Poison
Miss Clara Robinson, 1040 Third avenue, left Cedar Rapids yesterday for Armstrong where her sister, Mrs. Grace R. Slessor committed suicide with poison yesterday morning.

Mrs. Slessor, who was 50 years old, became despondent because of financial worries, it is said, brought about by the failure of a bank in which her father was interested before his death.

For some time, friends say, Mrs. Slessor stayed here with her sister, who is supervisor of the Y.M.C.A. cafeteria, but recently went to her home to stay with her widowed mother. (Cedar Rapids Republican, Cedar Rapids, IA, August 4, 1926)

Armstrong Lady Commits Suicide
Mrs. Slesson Daughter of the Late B.F. Robinson, Took Mercury
Tuesday morning of last week Mrs. Grace Slessor, oldest daughter of the late B.F. Robinson, pioneer banker of Armstrong, committed suicide by taking mercury. She died a short time later. She was married in 1894 to Dr. J.A. Finlayson of her home town. He died in 1905. Later she became the wife of Rev. A.E. Slessor, pastor of the M.E. church at Armstrong. He passed away a year or two later after their marriage. For several years Mrs. Slessor made her home at Cedar Rapids. The funeral was held last Wednesday. The suicide of Mrs. Slessor was a sad surprise to her numerous friends in the community in which she lived for many years. Her father, Mr. Robinson, passed away rather unexpectedly a few months ago. He was advanced in years. (Emmetsburg Democrat, Emmetsburg, IA, August 11, 1926)
