Amrstrong – Services for Loretta B. Eckholm, 86, of Armstrong, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Free Methodist Church in Armstrong with the Rev. Don Redlinger officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong. She died Friday, Dec. 6, 1996 at Valley Vue Care Center at Armstrong.Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Armstrong.
She was born Feb. 23, 1910 at Ringsted, the daughter of John and Ida (Burgess) Mitchell and attended Armstrong school. She married Harvey Eckholm Jan. 2, 1926 in Estherville. She lived most of her life in the Armstrong area. She has been a resident at Valley Vue Care Center for six years. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Armstrong.
Survivors include daughters: Mrs. Don (Sylvia) Gentry of Coalinga, Calif.; Velma Weir of Emmetsburg, Mrs. Duane (Marlene) Lathem of Armstrong; Mrs. Floyd (LaVonne) Blom of Algona; one son, Marvin of Waterloo; 21 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Carmey Conn, Madelia, Min. and Polly Marker, Sherburn, Minn.; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband who died April 1, 1967; parents; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 7, 1996)
