Fred Eckhart Stricken Suddenly With Acute Indigestion
The Armstrong community was saddened Sunday [November 15, 1936] night by the death of Fred Eckhart, popular mechanic, who passed away suddenly from acute indigestion. Mr. Eckhart, more generally known as “Fritz” had been in good health and working every day at his profession. His death was a shock to his family and many friends.

He is survived by his widow and three sons, Clyde, Kenneth and Clifford, and his mother, Mrs. Henrietta Eckhart, and a sister, Mrs. J.W. Harris, all of Armstrong. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, November 17, 1936)

Dolliver - A.B. Eckhart received word last Sunday night of the death of his cousin Fred Eckhart at his home in Armstrong. The cause of his death which was very sudden and unexpected was not determined. Fred Eckhart is a son of the late Chris Eckhart and a nephew of Martin Eckhart who moved from this community to Halfa last spring after residing here many years. The A.R. Eckharts attended the funeral at Armstrong Tuesday. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, November 19, 1936)

Dolliver and Vicinity - Word was received Monday of the death of Fred Eckhart at Armstrong Sunday evening. Fred was the son of Chris Eckhart and grew to manhood in this vicinity. He is a cousin of A.R. Eckhart of this place. We extend our sincere sympathy to the family. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, November 19, 1936)

Armstrong – Mrs. Lena Eckhart returned to her home at Dysart, the first of the week. She was here to attend the funeral of Fritz Eckhart. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 25, 1936)

Funeral services were held Wednesday of last week for Frederick Eckhart, who died at his home in Armstrong Sunday evening. Services were at the Presbyterian church, conducted by the pastor, Robert R. Irwin. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife and three sons, his sister, Mrs. John Harris, and his step-mother, Mrs. H. Eckhart, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
