Funeral Held For William Churchill, 68
Funeral services were held Friday for William [Albert] Churchill, 68, of Armstrong who died Tuesday at the Byrl V. Horswell farm while working in the field with a tractor.Churchill had alighted from the tractor and was sitting on the step at the rear of the machine when Orville Opsal, working in the same field, noticed the tractor was standing still. When he got to Churchill he found that Churchill was dead, apparently having suffered a heart attack.
Churchill was born Jan. 1, 1876, [per WWI Draft registration, 1875] at the Churchill homestead southeast of Armstrong. His parents were among the early settlers of the Armstrong community. Churchill had resided at Armstrong all his life and followed the occupation of farming. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 24, 1944)
Armstrong Man Dies of Heart Attack Suffered in Field
Funeral services were held Friday of last week at Armstrong for William Churchill, 69, who died Tuesday [April 18, 1944] at the Hyrl Horswell farm. Churchill was working in the field with a tractor when he apparently suffered a heart attack.Orval Opsal who was working in the same field noticed that the tractor was stopped and went over to investigate. He found Churchill dead.
William Churchill was born January 1, 1876 at the Churchill homestead southeast of Armstrong. His parents were among the early settlers of the Armstrong community and he has spent his entire life a Armstrong farming. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, April 27, 1944)
