W.A. (Tubby) [Wilfred Albert] Carson, 90, Pipestone, died Monday, June 21, 2010 at the Hospice Cottage in Pipestone.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 25 from 5-7 p.m. at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Armstrong, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 26 at 11 a.m. at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Armstrong with Pastor Lyndon Roesler officiating.

Military honors will be provided by Weiby-Johnson VFW Post 5232 of Armstrong.

Interment will be in the Armstrong Grove Cemetery in Armstrong.

W.A. (Tubby) Carson was born Jan. 21, 1920 to Ed and Addie Mae (Rowen) Carson in Union, Iowa.

He received his education in Armstrong school.

He married Adeline Lempke on Dec. 20, 1941. They had four children, Patricia, Eddie, Melissa and Todd.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. Following the war, W.A. farmed and broke horses for many years in the Armstrong area. He also owned and operated Carson City U.S.A. on the State Line.

On Dec. 7, 1974 he married Janice Meine in Esseg, Minn. the couple farmed in the Verdi area until 1986.

He is survived by his wife, Janice, Verdi; daughter, Melissa (Roger) Askevold, Granada; son, Todd Carson, Mankato; step-daughter, Kelly Bryant, Bedford, Texas; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; two great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Ivadell Murphy, Mesa, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by four sisters; one brother; son, Eddie; daughter, Patricia and two grandchildren. (MC)
