J.A. Carroll, 60, Dies; Services Set
Johnny A. [John Allen] Carroll, 60, lifetime resident of Emmet County, died Sunday [May 5, 1968] at 1:15 a.m. at Holy Family Hospital where he had been admitted nine days ago. Mr. Carroll had been in poor health for approximately 10 years.

He was born July 7, 1907, at Armstrong to James and Jennie Dundas Carroll, and received his education there. He had lived in Estherville for the last 11 years.

He was married Oct. 10, 1960, to Mrs. Lois Lewis of Fairmont.

Mr. Carroll was employed by the Lesota Tool Company of Albert Lea, Minn.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, James. H. Carroll of Lincoln, Neb., Gerald Lewis of Wallingford and Harold Lewis of Ann Arbor, Mich.; three daughters, Mrs. Lester (Grace) Stigman of Estherville, Mrs. Jerry (Sylvia) Poskochil of Lincoln, Neb., and Mrs. Edmund (Ada) Herke of Graettinger; and a sister, Mrs. Mallissa Codner of Backus, Minn.

Funeral services for Mr. Carroll will be held Tuesday with a prayer service at 1:30 p.m. followed by public services at 2 p.m. in First Methodist Church, Rev. C.R. Buckwalter officiating. Burial will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home until Tuesday when the casket will be taken to the church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 6, 1968)
