Word was received here Saturday by Mrs. James Carroll of the death of her son Andy at Bismark, N.D. The message states that he was killed in an accident, but further details were not given. John Codner, a brother-in-law, and Will Hearth, an uncle, left at once for Bismark. They are expected to bring the body home Monday. He worked for the Central States Electric Co.

Dies on High Line at Bismarck, N.D.
Armstrong , Nov.7 – Andy Carroll, 29 years old, son of Mrs. Jennie Carroll, was killed instantly by an electric shock Saturday morning at 7:45 while working on the high line near Bismarck, N.D. Andrew Leroy Carroll was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. James Carroll and was born in Kossuth county near Armstrong, February 9, 1899. He is survived by his mother, one sister, Mrs. John Codner of Armstrong, two brothers, Ralph of Huron, S.D., and John of Sanborn, and many other relatives. He was educated in the Kossuth schools and was engaged in farming for awhile after which he attended the Sweeney Mechanical school at Kansas City, Mo. During the past four years he has been doing electrical work. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock and burial was made in the Grove cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. U.V. James, Kenneth and Miss Leala James attended the funeral of Andy Carroll, their nephew and cousin at Armstrong Tuesday.

Mrs. Mary Dundas attended the funeral of Andy Carroll Tuesday.

Andy Carroll, lineman out of Bismarck, N.D., was instantly killed by being electrocuted while at work on a high line at a sub-station Saturday morning at 7:45. He worked for the Central States Electric Co., out of Bismark and the man at the switch failed to turn off the electricity and 4000 volts was sent through his body.

He was expected home in a few days for a visit with his mother, Mrs. Jennie Carroll and was to have been married at Minneapolis on his way home. Andrew Leroy Carroll was the second son of Mrs. Jennie Carroll and was born in Kossuth county near Armstrong February 9, 1899 and died Nov. 3, 1928 at the age of 29 years and 8 months.

His father preceded him in death more than 15 years ago and also one sister.

He was educated in the Kossuth county schools after which he was engaged in farming for a while. Later he took up electrical work and the last few years has been working for the Central Electric Co.

He is survived by his mother, one sister, Mrs. John Codner of Armstrong and two brothers, Ralph of Huron, S.D., and John of Sanborn, Iowa, besides many relatives and friends to mourn his passing

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church here Tuesday at 2 o’clock and burial made in the Armstrong cemetery. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, November 14, 1928)
