Pearl Opal Flier Burt daughter of John and Eda (Lowenberg) Flier was born September 17, 1908. She died Monday, January 9, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Center in Algona, Iowa at the age of 103. She was born and raised in the Ringsted-Halfa area of Emmet County. Graduating Salutatorian on May 27, 1926 from Halfa High School.

Pearl has been a longtime member of the Armstrong Presbyterian church. She joined the church April 17, 1927 and taught Sunday School for a time. In later years she was active in UPW and their sewing projects. She was also a long time member of a neighborhood club called Modern Mixers and a card club, The Jolly Jokers.

Pearl was united in marriage to Robert Burt on September 17, 1929 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Two children were born to this union; Lois Ann and Gordon Robert. They lived their married life in Seneca Township, on 2 farms, just [ ] mile apart. After the death of her husband, Pearl moved to Fenton where she lived until moving to The Good Samaritan Center in Algona in December of 2004.

Pearl loved her home and family. She was an avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables. There were always fresh flowers to grace the table. She enjoyed shuttle tatting, crocheting, sewing and other handwork.

She leaves to mourn her passing her children: Lois Ann Burt Berhow, Algona, Ia.; Gordon Robert Burt and wife Connie, Fenton, Ia., 6 grandchildren: Charolotte (Berhow) and Craig Williams, Montour, Ia.; Bruce Berhow and Nancy, Huber Heights, Oh.; Mark Berhow and Marcia, Algona, Ia., Laurie (Burt) Robeson and Brian, Des Moines, Ia.; Robert Burt and Patricia, Fenton, Ia; Andrew Burt, Armstrong, Ia. And Foster Grand daughter Valarie DeBoom, Rodman, Ia.

13 great grandchildren and 3 foster great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and 5 foster great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert, Her parents, brothers Ralph and his wife Ruth, Lester and His wife Bernadine, Earl and his wife Mildred. Sisters, Florence Guerdet and husband Leo, Irene Fischer and husband Elwin and several nieces and nephews.

INTERMENT:Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong, IA (MC)

Pearl Burt
Estherville – Funeral services for Pearl Burt, 103, of Algona and formerly of Fenton will be held 10:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church in Armstrong. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service only Friday at the church. Interment will be at Armstrong Grove Cemetery in Armstrong.

She died Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at the Good Samaritan society in Algona.
