Armstrong – Services for G. [George] A. (Alva) Burt, 74, Armstrong, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Armstrong, with the Rev. Don Sarff officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Burt died Monday at Fairmont Community Hospital.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Armstrong after 3 p.m. Wednesday until noon Thursday and at the church prior to services.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Burt, he was born May 31, 1905, at Armstrong. He received his education in Seneca schools and was married to Mildred O. Johnson on Nov. 22, 1932, at Estherville.

He was a lifelong resident of the Armstrong area, where he was a carpenter for many years. Recently he was a bartender at the Ringsted American Legion. He was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Armstrong.

Mr. Burt is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Marilyn) Naig, Ringsted; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Andrew Burt, Armstrong, and Robert Burt, Fenton; and one sister, Mrs. Susie Helmers, Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 13, 1979)
