Reuben Ephraim Bunt 1873-1938

R.E. Bunt, 64, native born son of Emmet county, passed away at his home in Armstrong Saturday [November 5, 1938] after a long illness. Mr. Bunt had been engaged in the implement business in Armstrong from 1903 to 1914 when he built a garage and managed it until he sold the business in 1934 because of failing health. The past three years he has worked as a salesman for the Precision Products company whenever his health permitted.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at the M.E. church in Armstrong with Rev. [line missing.]

Pall bearers were G.B. Vandenburgh, B.G. Miller, W. Churchill, Alf Hackerson, L.F. Heinrich and F.S. Robinson. The floral decorations were beautiful and numerous indicative of the great respect and love felt for Mr. Bunt and his family.

Relatives from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Will Lyle of Gary, S.D., Wesley Kehoe, Trego, Wis., Mrs. Clarence Miller and son, Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Rose Chapman and son, Estherville.

Born in Ellsworth Township
Ruben Efrum [Reuben Ephraim] Bunt, son of Steven [Stephen] and Mary Bunt was born Nov. 21, 1873 [per cemetery records 1872; per WWI draft record 1873], in Ellsworth township, Emmet county. On January 18, 1905, he was united in marriage to Margaret Bare. Two children were born to the union, Roy of Armstrong and Mrs. Martha Sorenson of Ringsted who with their mother are left to mourn his passing.

Two brothers and three sisters also survive, James Bunt, Armstrong; Howard Bunt, Bellflower, California; Mrs. James Kehoe, Frego, Wisconsin; Mrs. Dora Lytle, Gary, S.D. and Mrs. Cora Palmer, Armstrong.

The family and friends have lost a kind loving father and husband, a loyal neighbor, always willing to lend a hand to those in need or trouble. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, November 8, 1938)
