Swea-Eagle: Word was received here last Wednesday, May 11, of the death of Cyrus E. Bravender of Los Angeles, California. Mr. Bravender was a pioneer of Swea township, homesteading the farm where Earl Larsen now lives. Leaving the farm, the family moved to Armstrong where he had an implement shop and later handled automobiles. About 30 years ago the family moved to California. Mr. Bravender is survived by his wife and daughter, Mrs. Mildred Butterfield and two sons, Harold and Lester of Los Angeles and son, Roy A. of Swea City. (Algona Upper Des Moines, Algona, IA, May 17, 1938)

R.A. Bravender Home
R.A. Bravender returned last Tuesday from Long Beach, California, where he had gone to attend the funeral of his father, the late Cyrus E. Bravender. The elder Bravenders lived for many years on their farm six miles west of here and were well known in northwest Kossuth. The widow is still living in Long Beach and enjoys good health at the age of 76. (Algona Upper Des Moines, Algona, IA, May 24, 1938)
