Armstrong – Services for Harry LeRoy Bonnicksen, 77, of Armstrong, will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church with Pastor Donohue Sarff officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery with military graveside service by VFW Post 5232 of Armstrong. He died Sunday, May 10, 1992 at Valley Vue Care Center at Armstrong.Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Armstrong from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.
He was born Oct. 26, 1915 at Ringsted, the son of Knud and Gina (Tapf) Bonnicksen and attended Ringsted School. On Oct. 13, 1942 he married Mildred Wilberg at Santa Monica, Calif. He lived most of his life in the Ringsted and Armstrong area. He was a well driller most of his life and worked for Arts-Way Manufacturing Co. for 8 ½ years and retired in 1981.
He was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church; a WWII army veteran; member of Christensen-Bonnicksen American Legion Post 382 of Ringsted and a life member of Armstrong VFW Post 5232.
Survivors include his wife Mildred of Armstrong; two daughters: Mrs. Victor (Diane) Clabaugh, Parnell and Mrs. Steve (Carol) Corderman of Armstrong; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother Donald Bonnicksen, and a sister-in-law, Claudia Bonnicksen, Estherville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 11, 1992)
