Mrs. Howard Blekfeld Dies; Rites Sunday
Armstrong – Mrs. Howard Blekfeld, 49, of Armstrong, died yesterday at 10:45 a.m. at Holy Family Hospital. Death was attributed to a heart attack.Mr. and Mrs. Blekfeld moved to Armstrong in 1945 where he has since operated a service station. She had also taught school at Isonte, Minn.
Mrs. Blekfeld was Marieta [Marita] Charlotte Doering, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Doering, and was born on Oct. 31, 1912 at Burt. She received her education at Clear Lake, Minn., and attended St. Cloud State College.
On Oct. 23, 1942, she was united in marriage to Howard Blekfeld. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Armstrong.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at First Methodist Church, Armstrong, with the Rev. Roger Tappmeyer in charge of services.
Friends may call at the Slaba Funeral Home from Saturday afternoon until the time of services. Burial will be in the Armstrong Grove Cemetery.
Survivors are her husband, one son, James LeRoy, 15; one daughter, Eunice Marie, 11, and three sisters, Mrs. Ray Paulson, Osseo, Minn., Mrs. Clem Shields, Beverly Hills, Calif., and Mrs. George Lenz, Circle, Mont. She was preceded in death by two brothers and her parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 10, 1961)
