George Beck
George Beck, 81, of Armstrong died at 3:15 p.m. Thursday [September 30, 1971] at the Fairmont Community Hospital, Fairmont, Minn., as a result of a stroke.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Armstrong and burial will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 26, 1890, in Dakota City, Iowa, to Mr. and Mrs. James Beck. He was educated in Humboldt schools, and lived in Humboldt County until he was 12 years old, when he moved with his parents to a farm near Armstrong.

Mr. Beck was married Dec. 18, 1912, to Lila Mitchell at Armstrong. He farmed all his life and served a number of years on the A.S.C. Committee for township and county.

He is survived by one son, James Beck of Armstrong; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Henricksen, Armstrong, and Mrs. Roy (Phyllis) Lyle, Estherville; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Richard Metz, Ringsted, and Mrs. Andy Burt, Armstrong; and two brothers, Shirley Beck, Burlington, and William Beck, Humboldt.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and four brothers.

Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home in Armstrong today and until 10 a.m. Saturday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 1, 1971)
