Armstrong – Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Presbyterian Church here for Carl Albertson, 88, who died this morning at 4:30 o’clock at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville of complications of old age.He had been in ill health for the past six months and had been hospitalized for the past three weeks.
He was born July 7, 1874 in Denmark and he came to the United States in 1893 and lived with a brother at Longpine, Neb. He received his education in Denmark.
In 1903 he worked in Armstrong as a blacksmith and in 1925, moved to Jackson where he engaged in farming for a while. He then moved to California and returned to Armstrong in 1944, where he had lived since that time.
He married Male Bell [Maebelle Tascher] Grussing at Kankakee, Wis. in 1911 and she died in Armstrong in 1950.
Survivors include a stepson, Dewitt Grussing of Armstrong, two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Odd Fellow Dodge [Lodge] in Armstrong.
The Rev. James Rowe will officiate at the services Saturday, with Slaba Funeral Chapel in charge of the arrangements. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon tomorrow until noon Saturday until time of services. Burial will be at Armstrong Grove Cemetery.
