Estherville – Funeral services for Henry G. [Gustav] Sunde, 91, of Estherville will be held at 1:30 pm. on Thursday, April 27 at Estherville Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Jack Peterson officiating. Interment will be held at the Palestine Lutheran Cemetery in Dolliver. He died on Sunday, April 23 at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

He was born on Dec. 25, 1908 in Estherville the son of Halvar and Gurrie (Lovak) Sunde. He attended the Sunde Valley Country School in Ellsworth Township. He farmed all of his life.

On March 12, 1944, he was united in marriage to Mildred Jacobson in Graettinger. The couple lived in Ellsworth Township until moving to Estherville in 1983. The couple enjoyed spending their winters in Mesa, Ariz. for the past 25 years.

He was a long time member of Palestine Lutheran Church and more recently, Estherville Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred of Estherville; two daughters, Julie Markle and her husband, Guy of Thompson and Lorene Buhmann and her husband, Duane of Lake Mills; two sons, Harold Sunde and his wife, Meg of Estherville and Dennis Sunde of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Emma Danielson of Ocala, Fla.; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and three sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 25, 2000)
