T. R. Olson, 52, Dies Following Heart Attack
Funeral Services To Be Held Here Wednesday
T.R. Olson, 52, of Estherville, died yesterday morning at his home at 1101 N. 5th St., following a heart attack. Mr. Olson has been ill during the past year from heart trouble.Torkel R. Olson was born Feb. 14, 1891, at Gardner, Ill. He was united in marriage Dec. 24, 1914, to Caroline Sunde. The wedding took place in the Palestine church at Dolliver. In 1921 Mr. and Mrs. Olson moved to Estherville where they have lived since.
He is survived by his widow, his mother, Mrs. Thomas Sunde, two sons, Glenn of Chicago, and Arnold of Des Moines; two sisters, Sadie of Estherville and Hazel of Barraboo, Wisc.; and one brother, Elvin of Estherville.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon with short services being held at 2 p.m. from the Olson home and at 2:30 p.m. at the Estherville Lutheran church. Burial will be in the Palestine cemetery at Dolliver. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 20, 1943)

Funeral services were held yesterday for T.R. Olson, 52, at the Olson home and at the Estherville Lutheran church. He passed away at his home Sunday morning at 11 o’clock, with a heart attack being the cause of death. He had been in poor health for several years.Torkel Olson was born to Rasmus and Gentie Olson Feb. 14, 1891 at Gardner, Ill. He was baptized as a child and later confirmed in the Lutheran church at that place. He also received his education there. He came to Emmet county in 1907.
On December 24, 1913, he was united in marriage to Caroline Sunde at the Palestine Lutheran church. They farmed 12 miles northeast of Estherville until 1921, when his failing health compelled him to give up farming. They took up their residence in Estherville and have lived here since.
Surviving him are his widow; his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Sunde of Estherville; two sons, Glenn of Chicago and Arnold of Des Moines; two sisters, Sadie Olson of Estherville and Hazel Sunde of Baraboo, Wis., and a brother, Elvin Sunde of Estherville. He was preceded in death by his father who died in 1901 and three brothers.
The Rev. L.A. Mathre officiated at the services and interment was made at the Palestine cemetery. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, September 23, 1943)
