Mrs. Ragnild [Raginild] Larson, 94, Passed Away Saturday Afternoon
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Ragnild Larson, who passed away Saturday [June 14, 1941] afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the home of her son, Rasmus Larson, near Estherville. Rev. T.C. Hanson of Lakefield will officiate at services which will be held at the Palestine Lutheran church at 2:30. Burial will be in the Palestine cemetery.

Ragnild Berge was born April 4, 1847, in Skaanevick, Norway. She spent her schoolhood days and grew to young womanhood there. She was married to Ole Larson Tungsvig while still living in Norway and in 1872 they emigrated to the United States to make their home. They settled first at Roland, Iowa, in Story county and lived there for twelve years. Then they moved to Emmet county and settled on a farm northeast of Estherville. They lived there until the death of Mr. Tungsvik on December 13, 1912. Since then Mrs. Larson has made her home with her children.

Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Larson, three having died in infancy. The surviving children are Mrs. Sadie Toft, Mrs. G.G. Glendenning, of Buffalo, S. Dak., Mrs. Lena Torkelson of Fairview, S. Dak., L.L. Tungsvik of Lesuer, Minn., Mrs. Gilbert Erickson, all of Estherville, and Rasmus Larson, of near Estherville, who lives on the home place. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Mrs. Larson was 94 years of age at the time of her death and had been confined to her bed for the past few months. On Mothers Day of this year her children and grandchildren honored her by spending the day with her. While she was yet a young girl Mrs. Larson united with the Norwegian Lutheran church and has remained faithful to her religion throughout her long span of life. As long as she was able she was an active worker in all branches of the church and since her health has failed she has been unable to be up and around she has still maintained her interest in the church and its activities. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, June 17, 1941)
