Graveside services and interment for Galen James Weber, 88, of Estherville, formerly of Dolliver, will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006, at Lincoln Township Cemetery in Dolliver with Pastor Warren Baker officiating. Military graveside rites will be held by V.F.W. Post 3388 and American Legion 91. He died Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at Rosewood Manor in Estherville.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Henry-Olson Funeral Home in Estherville.

Galen James Weber, the son of John Charles and Hazel (Stanerson) Weber, was born Oct. 29, 1917, in Dolliver. He received his education and graduated from Dolliver High School. Galen also served in the United States Army.

On July 5, 1939, he was united in marriage to Marietta Clause. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Dolliver where Galen operated the Weber Hardware Store. Galen was baptized, confirmed, and was a past member of Dolliver Lutheran Church. He currently was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Estherville. Galen was also a member of the American Legion for 60 years.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Marjorie Jones and her husband, Jim of Dolliver; daughter-in-law, Audrey Weber of Beaverton, Ore.; Rosemary Oswalt of Plover, Wis.; Bob Weber of Hutchinson, Minn.; grandchildren: Rebecca, Jim, Jill, Teri, Mat, Tara, Tanya and Katie; great-grandchildren: Nathan, Andrew, Jamie, Kelsey, Stefan, Jasmine, Jim and Elizabeth; sisters, Agnes Peterson of Laurel, Md., and Alberta Rippentrop of Fairmont, Minn.; brothers, George Weber of Estherville and Jerry Peterson of Chambersburg, Pa.

He has been preceded in death by his parents, son, Jim; brother, Lloyd; and sister, Joan Burgeson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 31, 2006)
