Estherville – James Stillman, 89, of Estherville, formerly of Dolliver, died Friday, January 3, 1997 at Good Samaritan Center in Estherville. Private family graveside services at Lincoln Twp. Cemetery, Dolliver, will be held at a later date, with the Rev. Dan Miller of Dolliver United Methodist Church officiating. There will be no visitation.Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home of Estherville is in charge of arrangements.
He was born June 10, 1907 at Dolliver, the son of Linus and Nina (Wells) Stillman. He began his education in the Dolliver Schools and graduated from Estherville High School in 1925. He attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. He married Agnes Colby August 8, 1937 at the Winnebago Lutheran church in Winnebago County, Iowa. He lived in the Dolliver area his entire life with the exception f serving during World War II from 1942-45 in the United States Army. He followed in his father’s footsteps, continuing the Stillman Insurance Agency and Farm Management. He was active in local, county and state affairs. He has been a resident of Good Samaritan Cetner since Sept. 25, 1987. He was a member of the Dolliver United Methodist Church, Emmet County Conservation Board, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Posts, North Star Masonic Lodge and the Elks Lodge.
Survivors include a brother, Judge G.W. Stillman of Algona; sister, Nadine Stillman, Dolliver; three nieces: Ann Stillman Marrill, Sarasota, Fla., Marcia Jones, Atlanta, Ga. And Dorothy Pecora, Studio City, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife who died March 30, 1993, one brother (Linus) and one sister (Bernice Koon.)

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army from 1942-45. He continued his father's Stillman Insurance Agency and farm management business. He had been a resident of Good Samaritan Center since Sept. 25, 1987. She died March 30, 1993.
