Dolliver – Ernest H. Moltzen, 84, Dolliver, died June 4 at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, Dolliver, with the Rev. Richard Mitchell officiating and burial at the Dolliver Cemetery. Graveside rites were performed by the Dolliver American Legion Post. Henry Funeral Home, Estherville, was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Moltzen was born Jan. 12, 1892 at Dolliver to Fred and Mary Thoms Moltzen and was educated in rural Dolliver schools. He was married to Hazel Johnson June 18, 1922 at Dolliver, and following her death in 1948 he was married to Edith [Bonstead] Thorson, Dec. 15, 1950 at Minneapolis, Minn. She died in 1975.

He lived in the Dolliver area all his life where he farmed. He was a World War I veteran, a member of the Dolliver Lutheran Church, the Dolliver American Legion Post, the Estherville VVW Post and the Estherville American Legion Post.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Victor (Ruth Ann) Roggow, Alpha, Minn.; Mrs. Cline (Mary) Lampkin, Des Moines; three step-daughters, Mrs. Lois Solta, Windom, Minn.; Mrs. Wally (Lavone) Stuhlfuier, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Merle (Violet) Crabtree, Lake Park, Minn.; one stepson, Clayton Thorson, Winnebago, Minn.; six grandchildren; 18 step grandchildren; 12 step great grandchildren; one sister, Clara Moltzen, Estherville; and two brothers, John Moltzen, Estherville; and Herman Moltzen, Fairmont, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, one brother and four sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 7, 1976)
