Dolliver – Services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth [per gravestone, Elizabeth M.] Kono, 95, Dolliver, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Methodist Church in Dolliver with the Rev. Merrill Summerbell officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Township Cemetery. She died Tuesday [December 22, 1981] at Holy Family Hospital.

Mary Elizabeth Hyer was born July 24, 1886 in Marion County, Iowa the daughter of Rufus and Fanney Hyer. She received her education in the Marion County schools. On Feb. 26, 1905 she was married to John Kono at Newton and the couple moved to Emmet County on March of 1905 by team and wagon from Jasper County.

She was a member of the Dolliver Methodist Church and Ladies Aid Society.

She is survived by a half brother, Clarency Hyer, Long, Saskatchewan, Canada, and a half sister, Mrs. Helen Brown, Knoxville, Iowa and many cousins in this area. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 24, 1981)
