Harold Knapp of Dolliver Dies at 44
Harold Dewayne Knapp, 44, of Dolliver, died at approximately 8:15 Thursday at his home. He had been ill since the previous Saturday and cause of his death was a heart ailment.Mr. Knapp was born Aug. 2, 1914, in Ray, N.D., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jessie E. Knapp. He received his education in the schools of Ray and Hannaford, N.D. On Jan. 25, 191, he was married to Laura Griese in Jackson, Minn. They moved to Dolliver in 1945 after his military service. Mr. Knapp operated a garage and welding shop in Dolliver until the time of his death.
Mr. Knapp was in the Air Force maintenance division of the Air Force for four years in World War II, spending three years in North Africa, Cornica and Italy. In Dolliver he was a member of the American Legion, local fire chief and town treasurer.
He is survived by his widow and two sons, Dean and Donald, who are in high school. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Alma Knapp of Wenatchee, Wash., two sisters, Mrs. Marvin (Lillian) Hansen of Renton, Wash., and Mrs. Herman (Elanor) Paasch of Fargo, N.D., and one brother, Leonard, who lives with his mother in Washington. Mr. Knapp was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services are set for 3 p.m. Sunday at the Dolliver Methodist Church. The Rev. Donald Glazier of Churdan will be officiating, assisted by the Rev. Cloyd Bishop of the Dolliver Methodist Church. Pallbearers are the following Dolliver businessmen: Alvin Hatling, Gene Thiesen, Donald Sherling, Richard Harness, William Stow, and Ray Barrett.
Friends may call today at the Slaba Funeral Home in Armstrong until 12:30 Sunday when the Dolliver Methodist Church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 27, 1958)
