Services for Carl George Griese, Sr., will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Mar 29, 1991, at United Methodist Church, Dolliver, with Rev. Donohue Sarff officiating. Interment will be at Lincoln Township Cemetery, Dolliver. He died Sunday, May 26, 1991, at the Fairmont Community Hospital, Fairmont, MN.He was born August 1, 1916 at Dolliver, the son of Ed and Lydia (Hagebok) Griese and attended Dolliver school, graduating in 1936. He married Emmett Anderson December 31, 1939 in Estherville. Carl was employed by the State Conservation Commission as caretaker of Okamanpedan State Park for a number of years. He was a cream hauler for the Dolliver Creamery for seven years. In 1948 he was employed by the Dolliver School as a Custodian and bus driver; he was later employed by Lincoln Central Schools until his retirement. He had been the Mayor of Dolliver for a number of years. He also in his earlier years pitched baseball for the Dolliver town team, Martin County team and the Estherville team. He loved sports and fishing. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dolliver.
Survivors include his wife, Emmet Griese, Dolliver; four sons, Edward and his wife Linda and Carl Jr. and his wife Delores all of Dolliver; William of Sioux City; and Donald and his wife Joen, Dolliver; 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 29, 1991)
