David John Frerichs 1951-2007

David John Frerichs was born June 21, 1951 to John and Betty (Yeager) Frerichs at Estherville, Iowa. He attended grade school in Dolliver and later Gruver High School. David served in the United States Army serving in Vietnam until his honorable discharge, returning to the area. On August 22, 1981, he was united in marriage to Deena Keck at Dolliver, Iowa. After their marriage they lived in Ceylon where Dave was employed at Arts-Way Manufacturing in Armstrong, Iowa. In 1993, Dave purchased his own semi-truck and was leased by Landstar out of Rockford, Illinois. Dave was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon. He was a Landstar one million miler where he logged one million or more continuous, accident-free miles. He was also a Landstar Roadstar. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, riding his motorcycle, hunting in his early years, traveling and especially driving his semi.

Dave died suddenly on July 21, 2007 at his home in Fairmont, Minnesota at the age of fifty-six years.

Survivors include, his wife, Deena Frerichs of Fairmont, Minnesota; his three sons, John and his wife, Jessica of Ramsey, Minnesota, Paul and Michael Frerichs of Fairmont, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Austin, Broden and Caden; his mother, Betty Holl of Spirit Lake, Iowa; two brothers, Danny Frerichs of Clarinda, Iowa and Daryl Frerichs and his wife, Diane, of Estherville, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Greg Keck and his wife, Jill, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Joseph Keck and his wife, Cindy, of rural Alpha, Minnesota, Jerome Keck of Deerfield Beach, Florida, Thomas Keck and his wife, Sarah, of Mapleton, Minnesota; sisters-in-law, Julie Bruggeman and her husband, Carl, of Mankato, Minnesota and Allison Hennager and her husband, Peter, of Fairmont, Minnesota; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, John Frerichs; two brothers, Douglas and Dale Frerichs; father and mother-in-law, Donald and Rosemary Keck; brother-in-law, Jay Michael Keck; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Keck; twin nephew, Brenden and twin niece, Breanna Hennager and other relatives. (MC)

Fairmont – A Celebration of Life Services for David J. Frerichs, 56, of Fairmont, Minn., formerly of Ceylon, Minn., will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon with the Rev. Neil Christopherson officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kramer Family Funeral Home in Sherburn and one hour prior to the services at the Church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Lincoln Township Cemetery in rural Dolliver with full military honors by the Nassen-Detert American Legion Post No. 529 of Ceylon.

David died on Sunday evening, July 21, 2007 at his home in Fairmont. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 24, 2007)
