Sam Cayler of Spirit Lake Dies Suddenly
S.B. (Sam) Cayler, 76, of Spirit Lake, died of a heart attack last night in Miller, S.D., while on a business trip there. Mr. Cayler had gone to Miller on a cattle buying trip and suffered a heart attack in the lobby of a hotel there. With him at the time was Jerry Bortvit of Spirit Lake.

Surviving his death are two daughters, Mrs. Corwin B. Keith of Estherville and Mrs. Paul Anderson of Dolliver; and six sons, Clifford of Cedar Rapids, Don of Spirit Lake, Emmet of Webster City, Lawrence of Monona, Sam of Williams and Gaylen of Eagle Grove.

Mr. Cayler’s body has been returned to Spirit Lake to the Harpole funeral home. Funeral arrangements have not been made as yet. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 6, 1954)
