Dolliver – Services for Paul L. [Leonard] Anderson, 95, will be held Friday at the United Methodist Church in Dolliver with the Rev. Marshall Monthen officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Township Cemetery, rural Dolliver with full military rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post No. 91 of Estherville. He died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 1990 at Lakeview Methodist Care Center, Fairmont, Minn.Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville from 4-9 p.m. Thursday.
He was born May 18, 1895 in Rail Prairie Township, Morrison County, Minn., the son of Chris and Henrietta (Pederson) Anderson and attended country schools and a Trade School in Minneapolis. Following school he served in the U.S. Army in World War I in France and Belgium. He was wounded in action and following discharge came to Dolliver in March of 1920 and married Sylvia Cayler at Fairmont, Minn. He owned and operated a garage and repair shop in Dolliver until retiring, also drove bus for Dolliver Schools 18 years and drove the first motorized school bus. He took care of the Dolliver water works many years and served as the town marshall. He was a member of Dolliver United Methodist Church, Dolliver American Legion Post 619 for 69 years.
Survivors include his wife Sylvia, Dolliver; five sons: Carleton, Knoxville; Dean, Jackson, Minn.; Paul Jr., Dunnell, Minn., Clair, Dolliver and David, Sonora, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one brother, Hans, Brainerd, Minn.; and four sisters: Emma Bergstrom, Staples, Minn.; Anna Olson, Glenwood, Minn.; Goldie Slingerland, Birmingham, Ala. and Cora Guinn, Bloomer, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 27, 1990)
