Funeral Service For Aged Pioneer Is Held Tuesday
Funeral services for Mrs. Ingelbritsen [Engebrigtson], 95, were held at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon in the Estherville Lutheran church, the Rev. L.A. Mathre in charge. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery. Mrs. Ingelbritsen died at 5:30 a.m. Friday from pneumonia.

Sigri Messelt was born in Osterdalen, Norway, in 1843 [per gravestone 1833], the daughter of Hans and Sarah Knutson. On July 6, 1855 she was united in marriage to Hans Ingelbritsen. Thirteen children were born to this union, five of whom are dead.

In 1890 they came to America, settling in Estherville where they have lived since with the exception of two years spent in Wilkins county, Minn. They united with the Estherville Lutheran church in 1899 and have been members since.

Mrs. Ingelbretsen is survived by her husband and seven children, two of whom are in Norway. Those in this country are Mrs. E.C. Sutton, Mrs. Olaf Skog, and Mrs. Ben Peterson of Estherville. Mrs. Andrew Anderson of Petersburg, Minn., and Mrs. B.C. Borreson of Minneapolis. Thirty grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren in this country also survive her.

Pall bearers at the funeral were six grandsons. (Estherville News, Estherville, IA, January 17, 1929)
