Ben Peterson Died Lasts Thursday Evening
Well Known Resident of Estherville For Many Years – Funeral Services Saturday
After a long and painful illness, death finally came as a release to Benedick [Bendect] Peterson Thurdsay afternoon September 1. Mr. Peterson was one of those unassuming men. He was a stone mason and plasterer by trade at which he worked as long as he was able. Last fall however, he began to fail and since March he has been continually confined to his bed, suffering great pain most of the time. He bore up patiently however, and set his house in order spiritually and prepared to meet his God, this faith in Jesus Christ his Savior and Redeemer. The loving hands of his near ones ministered to him till the end.

Benedick Andreas Peterson was born in Mosjoen, Helgeland, Norway, September 18, 1853. He came to America in 1883, remaining two years and then returned to Norway. Later he came back to this country settling in Estherville, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Sophia Margaret Engebretson in 1887. To this union were born seven children of which six survive their father. Conrad of Springfield, South Dakota, Herman of Fargo, North Dakota, Belvin, Palma, Alfred and Stella, together with their mother are left to mourn his loss.

Funeral service was conducted from the Lutheran church Saturday after [missing line] by the pastor S.A. Berge. A mixed quartette sang several appropriate selections. Interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, September 7, 1921 / Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, September 7, 1921)
