Lars Handeland, 73, Dies After Long Illness
Lars Handeland, 73, died at 5:30 a.m. today at his home at 802 N. 9th St. He had been ill for some time from heart trouble and cancer.
Mr. Handeland was born April 1, 1872, in Norway and came to America in August, 1904. He was married to Josephine Endreson [Endresen] in Norway. He worked as a trucker until he retired several years ago. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran church.
Those who survive him are his widow, four daughters, Mrs. T.E. Belan of Burlington, Manghild, Jennie and Josephine who live at home and five sons, Lloyd, Andrew on [of] Burlington, Rinhold, Alfred of Mankato and Berger.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m., a private service at the home, and at 2 p.m. from the Estherville Lutheran church with the Rev. C.M. Hanson officiating.
