Obituary
Mrs. Carrie H. Dobbe, wife of Lewis H. Dobbe, passed away at her home southwest of Huntington Friday morning, May 27, 1904. She was born in Chippewa county, Wis., Sept. 30, 1866, and the same year came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Stenberg, who live northeast of Estherville, to Polk county, Iowa, where she remained until her marriage to Lewis H. Dobbie [Dobbe] February 23, 1886. Shortly after their marriage they moved on a farm near the present home in this county.

Four boys were born to them, none of whom have yet reached manhood.

Some months ago she was taken ill and dropsy developed which medical skill failed to relieve. The last two or three months she spent in a chair, suffering intensely all the time, yet without complaint.

Funeral services were conducted at the house Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock by Rev. Eggleston, pastor of the Huntington M.E. church, a large number of friends and relatives being present. Interment was made in the Norwegian cemetery near Estherville.

Mrs. Dobbe was a faithful, consistent Christian, a member of the Lutheran church, and was respected by all as was evidenced by a large number in attendance at her funeral. The husband and relatives have the sympathy of the community in the hour of their bereavement. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, June 1, 1904)
