Lewis Dobbe is Called; Resident of County 47 Years
Lewis Dobbe, retired farmer, passed away at his home in Estherville, Saturday [May 16, 1931] morning of heart disease. Mr. Dobbe had been a resident of Emmet county since 1884, moving to Estherville in 1910.

Obituary
Lewis Dobbe was born August 21, 1861, the son of Halvor and Anna Wing [Wee] Dobbe of Huxley, Iowa. As a child he was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran church at that place. In 1886 he was united in marriage to Carrie Sternberg. They made their home on a farm which they purchased, 5 ˝ miles northwest of Estherville. Five children were born to them, four sons, Henry of Cambridge, Minn., John of Mason City, Ed of Greenwood, Wis., and Clarence of Princeville, Ill., and one daughter who died in infancy. Mrs. Dobbe died on May 27, 1904. In 1911 he was married to Julianna Maria Nelson, who, besides the aforementioned sons survive to mourn his sudden departure from life. There are also eight grandchildren. He also leaves the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Helen Tvedt, John Dobbe, Olai Dobbe, Mrs. Randi Larson and Mrs. Karine Wee, of Huxley and Mrs. Betsey Wood of Eagle Grove.

Mr. and Mrs. Dobbe rented their farm and moved to Estherville in 1919. They bought a home on N. 5th St. and have resided there since. Mr. Dobbe has not been strong for several years. Just a year ago he was feeling poorly and the doctors informed him he was suffering from heart trouble and that the end might come suddenly. Last Thursday he walked up town on an errand as usual. Friday at 5 o’clock in the afternoon he became very sick. He realized the end was near. He was conscious to the last. To his dear ones around him, he said he was ready to go. He passed away at twenty minutes past 11:00 Saturday morning, at the age of 69 years, 8 months and 25 days. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 from the home and at 2:00 o’clock from the Estherville Lutheran church, Rev. L.A. Mathre officiating. A quartette consisting of Olive Nelson, Dorothy Jeglum, Chris Gronstal and John Hanson sang at the services. Interment was made in the family lot in the Norwegian Lutheran cemetery.
