Had Been at Hospital
Mrs. H.O. [Olena Christina Aanonson] Bergeson passed away at her home on the west side Sunday [March 24, 1940] afternoon following an illness of several weeks. She had been a patient at the Coleman hospital but had returned to her home and apparently was improving when she suffered a heart attack about noon Sunday from which she never recovered.

Mrs. Bergeson was 62 years old at the time of her death. She was born in Swan Lake township on Sept. 16, 1877 and has been a resident of Emmet county most of her life. In 1899 she was united in marriage with H.O. Bergeson and they lived on farms near Wallingford and near Terril, Iowa.

About five years ago they moved to Estherville and have made their home here since then. Mr. Bergeson died in the spring of 1938.

Early in her life Mrs. Bergeson joined with the Lutheran church and has remained faithful to that faith throughout her life.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the Estherville Lutheran church with Rev. L.A. Mathre officiating. Interment will be in the Norwegian cemetery.

Surviving Mrs. Bergeson are three daughters, Ms. George Richards of Estherville, Mrs. Tom Evanson of Plover and Miss Sadie Bergeson of Estherville; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Hans Lee of Estherville; and four son, Alfred Bergerson of Plover and Herbert, Charles and Leonard Bergeson, all of Estherville. Two children have preceded her in death. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, March 26, 1940)
