Former Local Man is Sick
James Walrath Has Pneumonia
Word that James Walrath is seriously ill with plural pneumonia was received here today by D.C. Wells in a letter from Mr. Walrath’s daughter.

A retired railroad employee, Walrath has made his home in Estherville until about three months ago when he went to Chicago for a visit.

According to the letter, he is delirious most of the time and so weak he can take no nourishment. No hope is held for his recovery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 19, 1934)

Former Local Man is Dead
James Walrath Dies in Chicago
James Walrath, former Estherville resident, died Saturday morning in Chicago after an illness from pneumonia. He was buried yesterday in Chicago.

Walrath, a retired railroad employee, made his home in Estherville until about three months ago when he went to Chicago for a visit. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 20, 1934)

James Walrath died at the home of his daughter in Chicago from pneumonia Saturday. The funeral services were held Monday. Mr. Walrath was 84 years of age and formerly was call boy here for the Rock Island. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, March 21, 1934)
