Estherville – Funeral services for Dawn E. Tendal, 81, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004 at the Estherville Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Susan Stone officiating. Military graveside rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville will be held at Estherville Lutheran Cemetery. She died Saturday, October 30 at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Dawn Evelyn Ruthven, the daughter of Edwin Carl and Mary Hannah (Gould) Ruthven, was born January 25, 1923, at Twelve Mile Lake Township, Emmet County, Iowa.

She receive her education and graduated from Ruthven High School in 1942. Dawn served the United States Army in the Pentagon during World War II from 1943 through 1946. After her honorable discharge from military service she attended business school in Sioux City, Iowa, for two years.

On June 19, 1948, she was united in marriage to Lewis O. Tendal in St. Paul, Minn. After their marriage the couple made their home in Estherville.

Dawn was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church.

Left to cherish Dawn’s memory are her children, James Tendal and his wife, Ruth of Superior; Diane Fisher and her husband, Bob of Terril; Donald Tendal and his wife Teresa of Estherville; Lars Tendal of Laurens; Eunice Hanson and her husband, Bill of Algona; Kenneth Tendal and his wife, Patty of Salix; Robert Tendal and partner, Brian Larson of Minneapolis; Paul Tendal of Estherville; 26 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.,

She has been preceded in death by her husband; one son Arnold who died in 1972; one granddaughter, Amy who died in 1972; parents; two sisters, Eleanor and Erma; and one brother Alex. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 1, 2004)
