Laurits Sunde
Estherville Services for Laurits Elmer Sunde, 84, Estherville, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Stan Eyberg officiating. Burial will be at the Estherville Lutheran Cemetery. He died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 1985 at his home.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home in Estherville from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

He was born Sept. 10, 1900 in rural Estherville, the son of Haldor and Guri (Lovik) Sunde. He was educated at local rural schools. On Jan. 3, 1945 he married Alva Anderson at Estherville Lutheran Church. He became mechanic at a young age and later used that knowledge as a threshing crew operator and implement dealer. While farming, he enjoyed traveling with evangelist friend Oscar Knutson and sharing in song and witness for the Lord. He continued to work in implement and oil station mechanic shops until his retirement. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Alva, Estherville; two sons, Joel, Amery, Wisc. and James, Hackensack, Minn.; one daughter, Charlotte, Minneapolis, Minn.; six grandchildren, two brothers, Henry Sunde, Estherville, and Carl Sunde, Forest City; and one sister, Emma (Mrs. Floyd) Danielson, Forest City.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 3, 1985)
