Willys Stearns
Estherville – Services for Willys L. Stearns, 81, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Kermit Rye officiating; interment will be in the church cemetery. He died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1988 at Holy Family Hospital. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Stearns was born March 27, 1906 at Primghar, the son of William and Lena (Helvig) Stearns. He attended Primghar schools. ON Sept. 1, 1929 he was united in marriage with Julia T. Johnson at Estherville. The couple moved to Estherville in 1937 where he was employed by Tobin Packing co. and later the John Morrell & Co. He was an active member of Estherville Lutheran Church and served for many years as Financial Secretary of the Estherville Morrell Employees Credit Union.

Survivors include two sons: Marlon Stearns, Oelwein and Richard Stearns, Boone; one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Joyce) Hatland, Mason City; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister Gladys Mohns, Round Lake, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his wife June 29, 1963; parents; and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 9, 1988)
