Olaf Skog, 89, Dies; Rites Set
Olaf B. Skog, 89, of Estherville, died of a heart condition at his home yesterday at 10 p.m.

He was born June 21, 1870, in Norway. He was married to Randine Engerbritson in 1892 in that country and they came to the United States in 1896. They came directly to Emmet County and farmed north of Estherville until 1901.

Skog worked as a bridge foreman for the Rock Island Railroad from 1901 until his retirement in 1937.

He is survived by one son, Carl; two daughters, Mrs. Sarah McAndrews and Mrs. Otis (Olga) Woods; five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Other survivors include two sisters in Norway and one brother, Peter Skog of Fall City, Wash. His parents preceded him in death.

Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Estherville Lutheran church, the Rev. Robert Beckstrand officiating. Friends may call at the Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home from tomorrow until noon Wednesday, when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 6, 1959)
