Estherville – Services for Carl E. Shaw, 101, will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Kermit Rye officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He died Monday, Nov. 9, 1987 at the Good Samaritan Center.

Friends may call at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 12 noon Friday and one hour prior to service at the church.

He was born August 23, 1886 at Saebovik, Sunnhordland, Norway, the son of Ingemar and Herborg Johnson. He attended elementary school in Norway and one year Academy Dept. St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn. On June 17, 1914 he was united in marriage with Martha Sunde at Palestine Lutheran Church, rural Dolliver. Most of his working life he was self-employed as a carpenter and building contractor. He was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one daughter Mrs. J. Alvin (Bonnie) Larson, Fort Dodge; four sons: Everett, Forest City; Clarence, Fresno, Calif.; Lyle, Minnetonka, Minn. and Joseph, Northfield, Minn.; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha, Jan. 5, 1965; one son; parents; five brothers and two sisters in Norway. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 11, 1987)
