Knutsen Dies at Age of 49
Edgar Henry Knutsen, 49, was found dead in the basement of his home Sunday morning after having suffered a heart attack during the night.

When Mrs. Knutsen returned from church Sunday morning she found her husband’s body. He apparently had suffered the attack while sitting in a chair reading.

Mr. Knutsen was born Aug. 3, 1917, at Imogene, Iowa, the son of Henry and Ellen Knutsen. He came to Estherville with his family in 1921. He received his education in Estherville schools and attended Estherville Junior College.

He was married Sept. 14, 1940, to Joan Richardson of Estherville.

Mr. Knutsen had been employed by the Northern Lumber Co., Harker Lumber Co., and the City of Estherville.

He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran church and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Karen) Shaw of Denver, Colo.; two sons, Kim of Colo and Kerry at home; two sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Imogene) Minkler of Minnetonka, Min., and Mrs. Gene (Ellen Marie) Provot of LaPuuente, Calif.; two brothers, Maurice of Emmetsburg and Wallace of West Covina, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1952 and his mother this year.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fuhrman Funeral Home, Rev. Harley Schmitt of Redeemer Lutheran Church officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home any time Tuesday and until time of services Wednesday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 5, 1966)
