Foster E. [Erwin] Kemp Succumbs Sunday
Foster E. Kemp, 82, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1971, at Holy Family Hospital from an illness of two years.

He was born Dec. 10, 1889, at Laurens to Mr. and Mrs. William Kemp. He received his education at Laurens. He came to Estherville in 1920. He worked as a conductor of the Rock Island Railroad.

He was married June 15, 1949, to Joselyn DeWitt at Cedar Rapids. They made their home in Estherville.

He belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles at Albert Lea, Minn., and was a member of the American Legion. He served in WW I, was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and a member of the Christian Church at Terril. He retired in 1956 after 50 years serving as a conductor.

He is survived by his wife, three step-daughters, Mrs. Richard Rabb of Dallas, Tex., Mrs. John Hormann of Salem, Ore., and Mrs. Eugene Hively of Lehigh; one step-son, Eugene DeWitt of Rapid City, S.D.; one brother, Curt Kemp of Stockton, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Theo Walrod, Morrow Bay, Calif.; and 17 step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Fuhrman Funeral Home with the Rev. H. Allen wirtz officiating. Burial will be in Estherville Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may call any time Wednesday at Fuhrman Funeral Home until time of service.

A memorial fund has been established for the Veterans organizations. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 13, 1971)
