Estherville – Services for Istvan (Steve) Katona, 30, Estherville will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Norman Omodt officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He died Saturday [February 27, 1982] at his home.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home after 1 p.m. Thursday.

He was born Jan. 9, 1952 in Budapest, Hungary, the son of Istvan and Catherine Katona and moved with his family to the United States at the age of four. He spent most of his life in Calif., moving to Estherville two years ago. He received his education in California and attended Junior College in California one year. On Feb. 9, 1980 he was united in marriage to Cynthia Kilen at Manson, Iowa. He was employed by New Dawn Foods at the time of his death.

Katona was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church and a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.

Survivors include his wife Cynthia, Estherville; one daughter Jennifer and two sons, Andrew and Anthony, at home; his father, Newhall, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Susan) Poczik, Los Angeles, Calif., Hedy Katona, in California and other relatives still in Hungary.
