Estherville – Services for Wilma M. Gronstal, 77, Estherville, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Estherville Lutheran Church with the Rev. Stan Eyberg officiating. Interment will be in Estherville Lutheran Cemetery.

Miss Gronstal died June 5 at Holy Family Hospital.

Friends may call at Henry and Olson Funeral Home until 1 p.m. Thursday and at the church prior to services.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Knut Gronstal, she was born April 30, 1902, at Estherville. She graduated from Estherville High School in 1918, received her BA degree from Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, and did graduate work at universities in Chicago, Ill., and Oslo, Norway.

Miss Gronstal taught school for 44 years, beginning in rural schools in Emmet County and later at Emmet Consolidated School, Roosevelt School in Estherville, then for 28 years in the Waterloo school system before moving back to Estherville in 1968.

She was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church, ELCW, Anna Circle, life member of the Iowa State Education Association, life member of the Iowa Historical Society, charter member of Ibsen Lodge 537 Sons of Norway, member of the Estherville Federated Woman’s Club, Garden Club, and an associate member of the Norwegian-American Museum in Decorah.

Miss Gronstal is survived by one brother, Carl Gronstal, Estherville; seven nephews; and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 6, 1979)
