Estherville – Services for Cyril E. Fischer, Sr., 82, of Estherville, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Kermit Rye and Pastor Arlyn Norris officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 1994 at Holy Family Hospital. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home of Estherville is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Sept. 18, 1912 in Des Moines, the son of Edward and Ruth (Pettit) Fischer. He moved with his family to Kossuth County as a young boy and attended Swea City Schools. The family moved to a farm north of Armstrong. On June 29, 1937 he married Vera Anderson at Sioux Falls, S.D. The couple farmed near Armstrong until 1939 when they moved to a farm southwest of Estherville. He farmed until his health failed in July of 1994. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church and Emmet County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include a son, Cyril Jr., of Estherville; daughters, Mrs. Romaine (Cheryl) Hanson, Valerie Curchoe of Estherville; Mrs. William (Carole) Jensen, Spanaway, Wash.; Mrs. Dave (Vera-Ellen) Feldman of Tacoma, Wash.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vera, who died Oct. 26, 1990; one grandson; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; two brothers and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 23, 1994)
