Estherville – Graveside services for Carl Singbusch, 88, who passed away February 5, 1989 were held Tuesday at Estherville Lutheran Cemetery with the Rev. Kermit Rye officiating. Graveside military honors were performed by the Estherville VFW.

Carl Robert Singbusch was born January 1, 1901 in Bloomfield, Iowa, one of nine children born to Charles J. and Anna Marie (Dunlow [Demlow]) Singbusch. He was educated in schools in Ashley, Missouri; Liscomb, Iowa; and Springdale, Arkansas. Carl served in WWI and for the Civil Service in Hawaii for 18 months. In 1946 he was employed by the National Gas Company and worked in several communities. On April 17, 1947 he married L. Eleanor Peterson in Spirit Lake. The couple lived in Estherville until 1954 when they moved to Newton where they lived for ten years. They lived in Baxter and Steamboat Rock for several years before moving to the Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown where they lived for four years. They then moved to the Hubbard area in October of 1987. Carl was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and was a former member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.

He is survived by two stepsons: Arvid Peterson of Bonaparte and Harvey of Fort Madison; one brother, Ralph of Springdale, Ark.; and one sister, Charlotte Ferguson of Ruthven.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Eleanor, five sisters, one brother, and a step-daughter. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 8, 1989)
