Rites Set For Helen Burtness, 84
Funeral services for Helen Burtness, 84, life-time resident of Estherville, who died Tuesday [January 3, 1956] in a hospital at Cherokee, will be conducted from the Sternborg Funeral home at 2 p.m. Saturday, the Rev. Thomas G. Melton officiating.

Miss Burtness was born July 11, 1871 in Houston county, Minnesota. She moved to the Estherville area as a young child and has resided in or near Estherville since that time, bring well-known as a seamstress as long as her health permitted. She has been hospitalized for the past four years.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Anna L. Larson of Estherville, three nephews, Levi Larson and Irvin Larson, both of rural Estherville and Milton Larson of Huntington and one niece, Mrs. Ray Lunsden of Iowa City.

Helen Burtness was a member of the Estherville Lutheran church. Burial will be in the Lutheran cemetery north of Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 5, 1956)
