Mrs. Belle Waters Dies
Mrs. Belle [Cora Belle Todd] Waters, 8, died at 4 a.m. today at Balmer Rest Home. She has been seriously ill since suffering a stroke March 29 this year, according to members of her family.Survivors include two sons and six daughters. They are Mrs. Raymond (Ethel) Sharar of Los Angeles, Mrs. Lee (Bessie) Jones of Estherville; Leo Waters of Estherville; Mrs. S.L. (Hazel) Bemis of Mallard; Mrs. E.H. (Iva) Smith of Minneapolis; Mrs. Creno Shiley of Graettinger; Miss Myrtle Waters of St. Paul and Vern Waters of Keokuk; eighteen grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas in 1919 and one daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Inez) Bowen in 1931 as well as her parents, a sister and one brother.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Presbyterian church at 10:30 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Thomas G. Melton will officiate and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Sternborg Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. Monday when the body will lie in state at the Presbyterian church until time of services.
A memorial fund has been established.
Mrs. Waters was active in Sunday school and church organizations as long as her health permitted. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 21, 1957)
