Estherville – Services for Herman Zerke, 85, will be held Thursday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Berger officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. He died Tuesday morning, May 31, 1983 at home.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Herman Frederick William Zerke was born Aug. 21, 1897 at Estherville, the son of Samuel and Roselia (Apoluis) Zerke. He received his education in the Emmet County country schools. On March 4, 1943 he was united in marriage with Pearl Orris at Fairmont, Minn. He farmed in the Estherville area and retired in 1968 and moved in Estherville. Zerke was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sons: Arnold Zerke, Estherville and Dennis Zerke, Spencer; three daughters: Dolores, Mrs. Carl Griese, Dolliver, Linda, Mrs. John Ysker, Belmond and Donna Zerke at home; two stepsons: Gary Orris, Fairbanks, Alaska, Darwin Orris, Mason City and 16 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and five sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 1, 1983)
